About R.Masters Bookbinder – A Family Tradition in Book Repair and Binding
With over 50 years of experience in bookbinding, I carry on a family tradition of craftsmanship and care. My journey started in the workshop of my father, who passed down the skills and passion needed to preserve and restore valuable books. Based in Reading, I offer bespoke bookbinding and restoration services, combining time-honored techniques with the finest materials to ensure each project is completed to the highest standard.
My Story
Every book tells a story, not just through its words but in its bindings and covers. My expertise in bookbinding services ensures that whether it's restoring a family heirloom, repairing a rare antique, or binding a new volume, your books will be treated with the care they deserve. Over the years, I’ve mastered the art of traditional bookbinding and restoration, working with a range of materials like leather, cloth, and paper. This allows me to preserve each book’s unique history and value, ensuring its longevity for future generations. My Reading-based workshop is equipped to handle delicate repairs, from restoring damaged spines to reattaching loose pages and creating custom leather bindings.

In addition to restoring books, I also offer custom binding services for those looking to add a personal touch to their collection. Whether it's a special edition or a new book, I ensure that each custom project is completed to the highest standards. Each binding is done by hand, with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that the craftsmanship reflects the value of the book. My commitment is to bring each book back to life, maintaining its integrity and beauty, while allowing it to be appreciated for years to come. I take pride in offering a service that not only repairs and restores but also enhances the quality and appeal of every book.
